We are interested in well-researched, non-fiction articles on surviving the newborn, preschool, school age and adolescent years. Our readers want practical information on places to go and things to do in the Buffalo area and nearby Canada. They enjoy humorous articles about the trials and tribulations of parenthood as well as "how-to" articles (i.e., tips for finding a sitter, keeping your sanity while shopping with preschoolers, ideas for holidays and birthdays, etc.) Articles on making a working parent's life easier are of great interest as are articles written by fathers. We prefer a warm, conversational style of writing. Guidelines: http://www.wnyfamilymagazine.com/ Wildflower

Unlike any other periodical in our field, we are devoted exclusively to the design, building, care, preservation, and use of wooden boats, both commercial and pleasure, old and new, sail and power. We work to convey quality, integrity, and involvement in the creation and care of these craft, to entertain, to inform, to inspire, and to provide our varied readers with access to individuals who are deeply experienced in the world of wooden boats. WoodenBoat publishes approximately 60 feature articles a year, from many parts of the world. Many are unsolicited, submitted by both amateur and professional writers. Our primary interest is to publish informative material, so writing style is secondary when we consider an article for publication. Obviously, our ideal manuscript is informative and smoothly written, but we're willing to do some work to help make it so. Guidelines: http://www.woodenboat.com/wbeditg.htm Working Mother The magazine is looking for articles (700 to 1500 words in length) that help women in their task of juggling job, home, and family. We like tightly focused pieces that sensibly solve or illuminate a problem unique to our readers. Topics of particular interest include: time, home, and money management; family relationships; and job-related (work/family) issues. Pieces dealing with travel, food, beauty, and fashion are usually staff-written. Guidelines: http://www.workingwoman.com/corp/writers_guide.shtml World Expose PAY: $200 Seeking articles that expose wrongdoing, exploitation, fraud, etc. and that are of particular interest are articles that reveal an injustice that may lead to a possible class action. We are not interested in articles that portray situations in black and white. You must show knowledge and respect for the others point of view. Full Guidelines: http://www.worldexpose.com/pay/ Would

Subscribers include professional editors, writers, publication managers, communication directors, editorial staff, PR and marketing staff, and managers and executives who write as part of their job but who may not have extensive publication responsibility. WTW is not about the "business" of succeeding as a freelance writer, or about getting published. It is not about fiction writing. It is about practical business and organizational writing and related editing and publishing. Guidelines: http://www.writingthatworks.com/guidelines.htm Yankee We'd love to hear your ideas for stories, but we don't have the time to give unsolicited manuscripts the careful reading they deserve. If it sounds like a real possibility (and only about one in a thousand unsolicited manuscripts is accepted), we'll write back and ask you to send the whole thing to us for a closer look.
