BOOK REVIEW

"Writer's Online Marketplace"
 How and Where to Get Published Online

by Debbie Ridpath Ohi

Writers Digest Books; ISBN: 1582970165; Dimensions (in inches): 0.80 x 9.16 x 7.02

  @Book Review:

This book is an absolute must for anyone who writes for, or wants to try and get into, online markets. It is packed with useful information, not only from the author but also from many writers who are "famous names" in the online writing world. Writers and editors, such as Angela Adair-Hoy whose "Writer's Weekly" is one of the most popular writing ezines, and M.J. Rose who e-published her first book before it was picked up by a print publisher, have all added their experience to this book making it a great guide to the e-publishing world.

The first half of the book covers all the necessary "approach" methods to getting published online. From electronic queries, to promoting your work online - everything you need to know to get started in this area is provided. It is worth pointing out that the approach to online editors is usually less formal than that to print editors, and the articles in this book help to identify the differences.

The second part of the book is worth the price alone. Here you will find a large selection of online markets. Some of them are low-paid, some of them paying more in line with print publications, but all of them with enough information for a writer to make a list of possible markets before getting on the web to check out the sites. Like the "Writer's Market", it gives submission information and what each market is looking for, together with payment information and what rights you are required to sell. Whether you're a fiction writer, or a non-fiction writer, you will find a market for your work in this book.

When I ordered this book, I wasn't sure if it would live up to my expectations - it didn't. It surpassed them and I recommend it to anyone wishing to dip their pen into the electronic inkwell.
